AlphaSan® Antimicrobial Technology
AstroTurf, Milliken and Royal Ten Cate have joined forces to combine their extensive experiences and ongoing innovations to develop the first, and only, antimicrobial synthetic turf playing surfaces. The new generation of synthetic turf utilizes Thiolon® fiber from Ten Cate with durable monofilament nylon fiber from AstroTurf along with AlphaSan® antimicrobial chemistry from Milliken to provide the Sports Industry with the safest turf on the market.
Starting to be a real issue... Bacteria find their way onto the fibers (and/or infill) in all synthetic turf sports field surfaces. The bacteria reproduce causing foul odors, discoloration, corrosion, bio fouling among other problems.
AlphaSan® antimicrobial additive is a zirconium phosphate-based ceramic ion-exchange resin containing silver. Silver is well known as being safe for human contact and effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms. These antimicrobial properties bring additional value through product differentiation to a variety of synthetic turf applications.
This new innovative technology is manufactured only by AstroTurf and is available only in our AstroLawn®, AstroPlay®, AstroTurf ® and PureGrass® products.
Protecting the field is about protecting the environment, your investment and most importantly, your players.

AstroPrintTM
AstroPrintTM is a patented synthetic turf dying technique to provide a cost-effective alternative to inlaid logos and graphics within synthetic turf fields.
AstroPrintTM also allows for a wider spectrum of synthetic turf colors and color matching that most turf manufacturer simply do not produce. |
AstroPlay® Z
AstroTurf has done it again! We have created the perfect state-of-the-art monofilament infill turf system called AstroPlay® Z.
Fibers are an important part of any synthetic turf system because they determine the play characteristics of the field.
AstroPlay® Z is composed of 100% polyethylene fibers with a thin, two inch tall blade. These fibers offer superior performance for most types of sports and also are one of the least abrasive in the sports field. |
