In the summer of 2011, a state-of-the-art AstroTurf® GameDay Grass™ 3D60 infill system was installed on the entire playing surface, replacing the former artificial turf on the infield and warning track as well as the natural grass outfield and bullpens.
The renovation keeps K-State at the forefront of infill field technology while maximizing the opportunities to practice and compete in all weather conditions.
“This will give our program the ability to take advantage of outdoor practice time in virtually any weather condition, and it will be one of the best playing surfaces in the Big 12 for years to come,” said Head Coach Brad Hill.

LIU Field was completely resurfaced with AstroTurf® GameDay Grass™ 3D and widened in the summer of 2011, and is the home playing field of LIU’s soccer, baseball, softball and lacrosse programs.
LIU’s men’s soccer program has made 13 NCAA Tournament appearance. The women’s soccer team has emerged as one of the best teams in the Northeast Region. The LIU baseball team set a program record for wins in a season in 2011 and LIU’s softball team has won 13 Northeast Conference championships.

For the first time in over five decades, the Saint Joseph’s baseball program will play its home games on campus as the Hawks open the brand new John W. Smithson Field in 2012. The new field features a synthetic surface with a dirt pitching mound. The surface, AstroTurf® GameDay Grass™ 3D, is the industry standard for baseball and is in use at Major League stadiums.
