Characteristics of the Magic Carpet^® System

• The AstroTurf ^® brand field surface is one piece with permanently sewn seams - there are no zippers, Velcro or other fasteners to operate or maintain.


• No additional equipment or storage space is required.


• The surface system is not subjected to the physical abuse inherent with cumbersome handling and storing of multiple rolls or trays. Because the field is stored away from sunlight and traffic, it will generally last longer than other conversion systems.
  
• Field painting can be permanent, semi-permanent or removable and needs no changes or adjustments as is sometimes required on existing multi-roll conversion systems.

A General Look At The Technology

The unique Magic Carpet ^® System uses a series of air jets to float the entire AstroTurf ^® surface over the stadium floor. When not in use, the turf is stored as a single roll on a "floating" steel core which can be lowered into a covered trench, becoming part of the floor. When the synthetic turf field is needed, the trench door opens, the turf rises up from the storage trench and winch hooks are attached to the turf to guide it into place as it floats off the steel core on a cushion of air.

In cases where space used by the storage system is not needed for stadium events, the Magic Carpet ^® System can be stored in a shallow pit, or a floor mounted system needing no pit (in most cases, the latter method of storage will be more economical).
