I wanted to express our deepest appreciation for all your hard work and expertise with Kentucky Country Day’s new field hockey and lacrosse 3D synthetic turf field. KCD is a school that values excellence and commitment and we are so pleased with the work of both AstroTurf ® and SCM.

AstroTurf ®, specifically Pat Davidson, was an exceptional help in our product selection process. Not only is Pat knowledgeable about the products, but also more importantly she knew what turf would be best for our needs. Pat came to my workplace anytime I had to see her and returned my calls or emails promptly and with detail when I had questions. Moreover, she took the time to drive me and another coach to Tennessee (in one day!) to visit 2 schools that had fields in which we had interested.

Additionally, Wes Howard and ALL of the SCM team were efficient, friendly, hard working and determined to get our field completed on time and with precision. The construction process was stress free. The crews were on site when they were scheduled and did not leave until the day’s work was done. Moreover, SCM was available to answer any questions or concerns with a quick and informative response. They made changes when we asked (like making the logo eyes yellow, etc.) without complaint. The building experience was simply impressive.

I wanted to take the time to compliment you and your firm on the excellent product we have had installed at our Football complex. In 2006, the University made the decision to start football again after a 50-year absence. We built a new complex with a new field, stands, and a wonderful field house. In the decision making process we decided the best alternative for our venue was to use the artificial surface provided by AstroTurf®. We have not been disappointed.

In the last 4 years since the installation, our first season was the fall of 2008, the need for maintenance and repairs has been less than minimal. The importance of a substructure for this facility cannot be understated and we have one of the best. It handles heavy rains like a champion. The surface is fantastic. Through a simple grooming process, we prepare the field for use and do net to nothing each week to prepare for game time. It looks as good today as the day it was installed. We have our name in the end zones, the donor’s name along the sidelines and our word mark at midfield, truly a site to be proud of.

In the fall of 2010, we had significant rains each Thursday and Friday and all the local high schools had to postpone playoff games due to wet conditions. Our field was offered and used for the local high schools making a run at the state championships. Every team that played at our venue was truly blown away by the quality of the turf and the playability of the surface even after 3-4 inches of rain the night before.

As we see the investment we made on this field move through the years, we continue to be proud of our facility and satisfied we made the right choice between natural turf and synthetics as well as the right choice of a product in AstroTurf®. We would highly recommend this turf to any facility wanting to improve the playability and reduce the cost of maintenance and setup for events.

If you’ve visited our school in the last several years, you’ve witnessed thousands of students, families, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends joined together by a sense of community. Through the completion of a thorough Strategic Plan five years ago, a new athletic stadium was constructed in 2008. From limited, portable bleachers installed temporarily when the school was built, to filling a new stadium with 3,000 supporters, tailgating festivities, and students enjoying the school while waiting for a home game to begin, our campus has come alive as a supportive home for the entire Gibbons community.

Through the financial generosity of strong supporters and a community partnership, I am now excited to announce the second phase of the Stadium strategic plan. Construction has begun to upgrade the athletic field with state-of-the-art AstroTurf® GameDay Grass™ used by Major League Baseball, Duke, Wake Forest, and UNC. It will provide a safe, excellent playing surface to meet our increasing athletic demands. Throughout this summer, AstroTurf® GameDay Grass™ will be installed, along with new drainage systems, driveway access, and site improvements.

With increasing numbers of student athletes, including twelve varsity and junior varsity men and women teams depending on the stadium field, we are challenged to provide a quality playing surface that isn’t stressed from overuse. Consistently, our teams continue into the playoffs which necessitates long playing seasons. Maintenance of our current field includes mowing, fertilizing, seeding, irrigation, and constant surface preparations. The new AstroTurf® GameDay Grass™ playing field will improve quality of play, provide a consistent playing surface, require minimal maintenance with only weekly raking, and alleviate many game cancellations due to inclement weather.

I have had the privilege of working with General Sports Venue and AstroTurf USA over the past year on the “Operation Field Rescue” television program, of which I am the Co-Executive Producer. OFR is a FOX Sports program which uses the power of youth football, urban redevelopment, local NFL team outreach, NFL Your Outreach and former NFL player / personalities to generate public / private initiative to fund the renovation of important stadiums / fields / parks where football has played a critical role in the positive character development of young men and women.

Our first project together was in Northeast Philadelphia, where GSV and AstroTurf® proved to be irreplaceable partners in the initiative to restore Billy Gambrel Field. In conjunction with the Philadelphia Eagles and several key local elected officials, we were able to complete a major renovation of this park, which has served youth football teams for over 30 years.

Under challenging circumstances and very tight timelines, GSV / AstroTurf® moved mountains to ensure the project was completed in time for not only our Thanksgiving television special, but also for the Pop Warner Championship games. I personally worked with GSV Chairman, Michael Dennis, and CEO, Jon Pritchett from the conceptual phase through to completion and the dedication ceremony. At all times, their organization performed at the highest level of excellence and professionalism. It is not inaccurate to say that without the help and support of GSV / AstroTurf USA, the project would have failed.
